Magical Green Unicorn

Unicorns are my daughter’s favorite. I thought of her while I was on the island of Murano, near Venice and saw this awesome hand made glass creation.

She is at the perfect age for magic to fill her imagination. This weekend we held her birthday party, and we filled her time with games and fun, and of course, unicorns. We built a special necklace with a braided thread cord and a small vial of sequins, labeled “unicorn magic”. She spent the entire day Sunday pretending to sprinkle her magic everywhere.

This Wednesday is also a day that my daughter will leave on her school bus in the morning, but will not return to me until the following Monday. This is always a bittersweet moment for me. I want to keep her nearby, cherished and safe, but I have to trust that she will remember what I have taught her and live her best life on the days that I cannot be there for her.

For today, I will look at this wonderful creation and look back at the magical fun we had this weekend for a little extra strength and peace.
