Blue Beginnings
Celebrating the start of our journey together.
My wife and I had a long journey in life before we met each other. We’re both fond of saying that it was a good thing we met later in life, because before that, we weren’t done cooking yet. We each had a journey of self discovery that needed to be completed before we were ready for our time together.
We both knew that we wanted a traditional wedding and honeymoon. This was something that neither of us had experienced in our previous relationships, and so it was important to us. We had a wonderful sunset wedding near our home, and caught a plane to Italy two days later. We had no real expectations for the trip, other than a desire to enjoy good food and wine, and see the sights.
After a long day of exploring Florence, we traveled by bus to I Tre Pini for a traditional Tuscan feast.
We were with a tour group, and our group was welcomed with that sparkling, fantastically blue wine pictured above. It is called Blumond and it is a product of the Saraceni winery. It was delicious, and an excellent start to a bucket list fulfilling evening. We were served several delicious courses that were prepared family style and accompanied by other excellent wines and an entertaining, lively show of two guitarists and a flirty singer.
The best memories of that day are the smiles and laughter of my new bride. She dreamed of this trip since her youth. It was clear that she was having the time of her life. I felt blessed just to be there with her, sharing that special moment.
